Introducing Our SS21 Collection

3 April 2021

We believe our SS21 offering covers all the bases, from tailoring to holiday wear and everything in between. While there’s plenty from our old-favourites, there are also some new additions to our growing arsenal of global menswear brands that the team are particularly excited by. Here’s what you need to know.

Trunk SS21 Introduction Blog

The events of the last year or so will undoubtedly change the way we interact with our clothes: we need less but also know how to use more of what we already have. So for this spring/summer season, we’ve curated a collection that will seamlessly work with your current wardrobe and subtly introduce new elements to it. In many ways, it’s a continued exploration of the versatility of our steady palette of blues, greens and browns, but with the added bonus of sweet pops of colour for some seasonal cheer. The latter part is vitally important. After all, don’t we deserve to go out and enjoy ourselves wearing nice clothes?

One brand that we’re particularly excited about this season is De Bonne Facture, a French label that produces casual but elegant garments with an emphasis on interesting fabrics. Its take on a modern suit is particularly interesting, as it’s a long-sleeve painters shirt with a matching loose-fitting pleated trouser in a washed olive linen (there’s also a brown check). We think it’s totally representative of how a lot of men are dressing today as you’ll look dressed up but at the same time feel suitably relaxed. Now, that may sound like an oxymoron but it’s true. We recommend wearing our light chambray Seymour shirt beneath as olive and pale blue is a winning combination.

With a relaxed spring/summer season on the cards, it’s worth familiarising yourself with the Italian brand Fedeli. It’s our Buying Director Tim’s pick of the bunch, and he was introduced to them by our friends Finamore, a third-generation Neapolitan shirtmaker you might already be familiar with. “I’m really excited about having Fedeli on-board as they specialise in cashmere and jersey knits and the quality is really lovely,” he says. Once it’s acceptably warm enough, he’s planning on wearing their Giza cotton short sleeve polos with this pair of Trunk Hyde shorts, which have been cleverly garment-dyed for a special touch, and these C.QP Otium sneakers, which are also new for the season. It’s simple but effective dressing and very Tim!

Another Italian brand that’s worth familiarising yourself with is Doppiaa from Milan. There are two chore jackets in navy and beige which will prove to be incredibly useful in all aspects of your life. However, the highlight is the navy seersucker jacket and trouser. It’s formal enough for the corporate world, but you can easily venture from the (home?) office and out to dinner without second-guessing what you’re wearing.

For our founder Mats, though, it’s Trunk’s Wigmore jacket in olive (made for us by Lardini with a matching trouser) that he’s excited to wear. He comments that, “Lardini is still very much a family run business with similar values to Trunk, so to me this is so much more than just making beautiful clothes together. As restaurants start to reopen, I’m very much looking forward to dressing up and going out again!” If you’d prefer a jacket that’s made from lighter fabrics, Boglioli’s signature K jacket is available in a cotton pique and has been garment-dyed for a lived-in feel. Elsewhere, Lardini and Ring Jacket both provide soft-shouldered sports jackets that can be mixed and matched with ease.

We think that we’re all deserving of having some fun this season – cut loose and kick back – and for that, Gitman’s new range of summer shirts are just the ticket. “The collection is really refined and plays with their vast archives. I really like their madras and printed fabrics. They’re bright but easy to combine with wardrobe staples like our Resolute denim jeans or Welbeck beige chino,” says Keita, who has been our Buyer for four years now. To play the spring season on the safe side, the outerwear brand Manifatturra Ceccarelli is another pick of his. “I’d say the Ceccarelli’s 3B faded navy jacket is my favourite, the slub fabric and well-faded colour particularly caught my eye. This kind of easy and careless casual jacket is very handy to have unpredictable spring weather in the UK,” he adds.

All in all, whether you’re staying at home or venturing abroad for a well-deserved escape this summer, new options and ideas are aplenty in this SS21 collection. If you’re unsure about something, or have a question, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us as we’d love to help you.
