New to Trunk for AW25 and joining us in Zurich for our annual Autumn Market with Monocle, Alpe Piano is inspired by the heritage of the Dolomites, blending traditional alpine fabrics with modern design. Using authentic loden, felted wool and distinctive knits, the brand creates pieces that are naturally functional, responsibly crafted and suited to both outdoor adventures and everyday wear. Below, we speak with the brand about their beginnings, their approach to materials and design philosophy, and take a closer look at their signature piece, the Francesco Alpine jacket.

Trunk Talks: Alpe Piano
What inspired the creation of Alpe Piano?
It was a quiet reverence for the Dolomites—their raw beauty, heritage, and rhythm—that sparked the idea. Alpe Piano is deeply rooted in place. And not just in terms of practicality, but in spirit.
What kind of materials do you use, and why?
We’ve always had a passion for genuine, natural materials—the kind of fabrics that have been worn for generations in the Alps. Felted wool, loden, textured knits… there’s a certain honesty to them. That’s what we wanted to bring into the modern wardrobe.

What does the name “Alpe Piano” represent?
The name hints at both altitude and serenity. Like the brand itself, it doesn’t shout. It’s about quiet craftsmanship - design rooted in mountain heritage yet adaptable to everyday life.
How would you describe the design philosophy?
We aim to walk that rare line between utilitarian and refined. The Dolomites are our compass - their shapes, their climate, and the lifestyle of the people there. Our pieces are created to move effortlessly between worlds.
Is functionality or tradition more important to you?
Both. We’re not trying to reinvent technical gear. Instead, we’re reclaiming a kind of natural functionality—clothing that breathes, protects, and ages beautifully. Every fabric comes from the Alpine regions, chosen for both authenticity and performance

What role does sustainability play in the brand?
Responsibility is central to what we do. In a world of fast fashion and over-engineered gear, we’re taking a more grounded path. That means durability, traditional materials, and thoughtful construction. These are garments built to last—and to live with.
This season at Trunk, we’re excited to have the Francesco Alpine Jacket in our collection—can you tell us what makes it special and how it ties into the Alpe Piano philosophy?
The Francesco Alpine jacket is one of our best-selling items and a great all-rounder. It is perfect for your weekend trip to the mountains and also dresses you perfectly for everyday life. It is not obtrusive, yet makes a very clear statement. And best of all is the comfort it offers, thanks to the soft wool fabric. Try it for yourself!
