100 Year Lightweight Gabardine Balmacaan Coat

Part of Sanyo's 100-Year Coat line, launched in 2013 and conceived as outerwear to be repaired and passed down through generations, this lightweight coat is a refined take on the classic Balmacaan. Every stage of its making, from weaving and finishing to sewing, takes place in Japan, drawing on Sanyo's long history as a raincoat maker. The fine 80/2 cotton gabardine is given a peach air-tumbling finish for a soft, smooth hand and a subtly relaxed character, while deep inverted pleats at the back create a tent-like silhouette that moves naturally with the wearer. The collar is finished by hand and softly rounded in a nod to French vintage outerwear, the buttons are sewn to withstand years of wear, and the generous cut layers easily over both tailoring and more casual pieces.
