Pitti Uomo 94: Jorge Navares of MAN1924

At this years Pitti Uomo 94 we sat down with Jorge Navares of Spanish label MAN1924 to talk all things Firenze.

When did you start coming to Pitti?
Personally, I started coming to Pitti almost 30 years ago when we came as buyers. But we started coming as the MAN 1924 brand 7 years ago. So this is the 14th Pitti in our bag.

Tell us a little bit about an unforgettable memory at Pitti.
An unforgettable memory and also a sad memory at the same time was the first day we came as a brand. With all our excitement and doubts. 30 minutes before the exhibition opened we found out that our grandfather had just died. The man who founded MAN1924.

Who do you admire in your industry?
Apart from my grandfather I admire all the people that two or more times a year help to create the vision of our garments. The final customer couldn't imagine all the time and work that goes in to making a simple jacket.

What are your three favourite places in Florence?
A difficult question as Florence has plenty of nice places! Referring to restaurants I recently discovered a very nice one called Keromo. The meat and fish are top. Another place I like very much is Camillo. When in Florence I always pay a visit to a vintage store called Desii Vintage and see what my friend Carlo has.

Describe your perfect day in Florence.
You can imagine that when we are in Florence we are mostly at the exhibition and do not have too much time for anything else. So my perfect day would be when the working day ends and all the team head out for an aperitivo and a nice dinner where we talk about our experiences of the day. I love taking a walk after dinner in Florence, especially in the summer, it's incredible

Tell us three unique points of MAN1924 products.
A special sense of authenticity, comfortability and full of character.

What is your personal favourite in your collection?
This question is very easy! Of course our KENNEDY jacket. It is our iconic jacket and our bestseller.
Thank you, Jorge!

MAN 1924 AW18 will be available from September.
